An unnamed obese 34-year-old Japanese recluse NEET is evicted from his home by his four siblings following their parents' deaths and his skipping the funeral service. Upon some self-introspection, he concludes that his life is ultimately pointless but still intercepts a speeding truck heading towards a group of teenagers in an attempt to do something meaningful, and manages to pull one of them out of harm's way before dying. Awakening in a baby's body, he realizes he has been reincarnated into a world of sword and sorcery. He resolves to succeed, discarding his past identity to embrace his new life as Rudeus Greyrat.
